Collection Policies |

The collection supports faculty research and instruction in the graduate
educational administration program which includes principal and supervision
certification at the elementary, middle and/or high school level. In the
master’s degree program emphasis areas are available in administration,
supervision, training management, and higher education. At the doctoral
level, there is an educational leadership component in the urban services
doctoral program.
Language: The collection is primarily an English language collection.
Chronological Guidelines: The emphasis of the collection is on current theory and practice. It does include overview of historical practice.
Geographical Guidelines: The collection mainly covers American educational theory and practice, with works on British practice collected selectively. Materials about present practice in other countries are collected when they include broad subjects or comparative information on educational systems.
Treatment of Subiect: Materials appropriate for upper division and graduate studies are collected. Scholarly works not intended as texts are mainly included. Biographies of influential educators are collected. Popular works on educational administration are acquired selectively, as are works of local interest. Histories of schools and universities are generally not collected.
Types of Materials: The collection includes major journals in the fields of educational leadership and higher education, including some from national organizations and institutions. Materials from state and local agencies are also included. The collection aims to include the major monographic publications from both trade and scholarly publishers. Theses and dissertations are not generally collected.
Date of Publication: Materials collected are current publications, with retrospective works collected in current editions or reprints.
