Statistics

On April 20, 2010, various statistics were recorded to create a snapshot of a day’s use of the ODU Libraries (Perry Library, Hofheimer Art Library, Diehn Composers Room).

3,923 people walked through the doors of the three ODU Libraries and logged on to computers in the Perry Library 1,305 times.

Users checked out 677 items – 52% were ODU’s undergraduates.  Our users received 66 items from other libraries, and we sent 78 of our books and articles to other libraries.

Our users asked 136 reference and research questions – in person, by phone, email and chat .

They requested 219 items not available at ODU; other libraries requested 203 of our materials.

On the Web, there were over 24,000 hits to the library’s Web site (53% of library Web site use was between 8am-5pm; 47% all other hours).  3,445 searches were done on our library catalog.

Behind the scenes, our Business Office processed $5,777.28 in purchase orders for supplies and services, and collected $57.90.  In Bibliographic Services, 131 new items were processed (call number labels, security strips, stamped), 198 orders were placed for new materials, and 136 titles were cataloged.
