ArtServe: Art & Architecture Mainly from the Mediterranean Basin

This index is composed of over a dozen collections, with 17,000 images of art and architectural objects, as well as tutorials and texts on art history and other reference works.

George Eastman House/Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center Union Catalog (a TELNET site)

[At "Username:" type "GUEST".] This catalog contains records for one-third of the Eastman House collection plus a few thousand items from the Ransom Research Center. The biography file contains information on 55,000 photographers.

Joconde

[Select "Documentation" Under "Bases de donnees...," select "Joconde."] Joconde is a union catalog of art objects held in over 60 museums in France. Over 500 images at present are scanned, and the database includes 130,000 works of art from the seventh century to the present; 10,000 artists; 20,000 people; and inventories of 20,000 sites. National Register of Historic Places and the Historic American Building Survey/Historic American Engineering Record Database (a TELNET site)

[At "MPE XL" type "natreg" for the National Register.] [At "MPE XL" type "hh" for the Building Survey and Engineering Record Database.] This database contains "descriptive, significant, and administrative information" on properties listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The Building Survey and Engineering Record is a collaborative effort of the National Park Service, the American Institute of Architects (and for the Engineering Record, the American Society of Civil Engineers), and the Library of Congress, to catalog America's built environment. This database is updated weekly.
