As a preview to the Learning Commons, Perry Library will provide iPads for loan to students, faculty and staff starting January 24. They will be available for one week loan periods. The iPads are offered to help increase student and faculty access to the latest information technology - in the context of learning, scholarship, and experimentation. Try an iPad! Find them at Perry Library’s 2nd floor circulation desk (3-4154).

Be sure to try them out before the dates listed above. There is no guarantee that we will be able to acquire them. But while we have trial access, please use them and let us know what you think. Contact your subject specialist librarian or Pamela Morgan, Collection Development Officer, or click on the links above to access and provide feedback.

Joleen Westerdale joined the staff of the ODU Libraries as Instructional Services Librarian. Prior to coming to ODU, Ms. Westerdale worked at Keene State College in New Hampshire as a contract lecturer in reference and information services. She has been a reference and information services librarian at Emerson College Library, Salem State College Library, Simmons College’s Beatley Library, Washington University‘s Olin Library, and Emmanuel College’s Cardinal Cushing Library. She received her MLIS from the Simmons College in Boston, an MFA in Creative Writing from University of Massachusetts- Boston, and her BA in German Literature from University of Massachusetts-Boston.

ODU students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to stop by Perry Library for a brief library tour! Interested individuals should meet inside Perry Library by the Gornto/BAL entrance near the poster. The 30-minute tours are led by a staff member from the Reference and Research Department.

On Monday, January 17, the University Libraries will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr Day.

The library's BLT (Brief Library Tours) for Spring 2011 have been scheduled for the next 2 weeks. ODU students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to stop by Perry Library for a brief library tour! Interested individuals should meet inside Perry Library by the Gornto/BAL entrance near the poster. The 30-minute tours are led by a staff member from the Reference and Research Department and will be offered during the following days/times: January 12th, 13th, and 14th at 11:00 and January 18th and 19th at 3:30.

Beginning this week, Perry Library will be moving all books with call numbers starting with L from the west side of the third floor to the east side of the fourth floor.

The L call number covers books related to education as well as ODU's theses and dissertations from all subjects (LD4331).

The shifting process is expected to take approximately three weeks. If you have trouble locating a book, ask for help at the circulation desk, located at the front of the second floor.
