The 18th Annual Author Dinner of the Friends of the ODU Libraries will feature guest speaker David Poyer, an American author and retired naval officer: "Readings by David Poyer: From Bute Street to Best Sellers." Poyer began writing in 1976 and has published 30 novels. He is called "the most popular living author of American sea fiction."

Also at the dinner, the Friends will present their Outstanding Achievement Award to Sheri Colberg-Ochs, an ODU professor who specializes in diabetes and exercise research.

Plan to participate in the Silent Auction, one of the major fundraising endeavors supporting the Friends. Anticipated offerings include a deep-sea fishing trip leaving from Nags Head; a Discovery Membership to the Town Point Club, including a lunch; a lamp from Mary Barnett’s Gifts; vacation packages; entertainment opportunities; and merchandise from some of the area’s finest boutiques.
