... you may have noticed that "Full Text @ ODU" doesn't appear. ODU Libraries is making a transition from one full-text linking system ("link resolver") to another. During this process link resolver service will not be available on Google Scholar search results lists. We expect this interruption to last 1-2 weeks and apologize for the inconvenience.
The databases listed below are being evaluated on a trial basis by the Old Dominion University Libraries.
Be sure to try them out before the dates listed. There is no guarantee that we will be able to acquire them. But while we have trial access, please use them and let us know what you think.
The library will be offering an EndNote training session via Adobe Connect on Thursday, October 31, from 6-7pm. Learn how to collect references from the library’s databases and export them into EndNote, a powerful tool for organizing and managing bibliographic references. You will also learn how to import and format references in your Word document (Cite While You Write).
Come to Room 1306 in the Learning Commons, at Perry Library on Saturday, October 26, from 10:30am-noon for an EndNote workshop.

On Thursday, October 24, from 6-7pm, login and learn about "Library Resources in BUSINESS." You will learn about the most important business resources and research tips, with a special focus on off campus access.

On Wednesday, October 23, the library will be hosting a zombie event from 6-8pm in the Learning Commons: Feed Your Brains @ Perry Library. All students are invited to join us and become a zombie, a hunter or a survivor. Free food and fun for everyone! (Note: The event takes place on the 1st floor; the upper floors are available for quiet study from 6-8pm.)
Visit a display of zombie books from now through November 1, and check one out!

"Information Literacy: Discover important library resources & citation tools"
On Monday, October 21, from 3-4pm in the SSC Testing Center (Room 1103), learn how to use library resources to find research for your course assignments. It's a great way to get ahead of the curve. But the library databases aren’t only about research articles. In this workshop, we’ll talk about the difference between scholarly and popular articles and how you can use the library databases to find both (and why this might even be easier than Google)!

Donations are now being accepted for Perry Library’s Annual Booksale. We are accepting donations of books, CD’s, DVD’s, LP’s, and magazines at the circulation desk on the 2nd floor of Perry Library. This year’s annual booksale will be held at the Perry Library Wednesday, 11/6 – Friday 11/8, 9am -7pm and Saturday 11/9, 9am-4pm. Mark you calendars!

"Migrations: Words in Motion," the 36th Annual Literary Festival, was another success!!
Whether or not you had a chance to attend, we encourage you to peruse or check out a book (or books) by our festival authors. They will be available on display in the Learning Commons for the rest of this week. Then, back to the shelves.

The University Libraries has prepared an exhibit featuring information about and books by the featured authors of Old Dominion University’s 36th Annual Literary Festival. Come to the first floor Learning Commons @ Perry Library to view the exhibit; feel free to peruse the books on display, or check them out.
October 12-15 (Saturday-Tuesday) is fall holiday. No classes are in session.
Perry Library will be open regular fall hours, and all service points will be staffed their normal schedule.
Hofheimer Art Library and Diehn Composers Room will have the following schedule:

Accessing and Using Electronic Books E-books in our collection are growing in number, and they are not all the same. In this session, you will learn about our e-books: how to search for them, how to print them and how much you can print, how to download software to read them on your own devices, how to place them on course reserve, and how to order for multiple or single user access. Come to Perry Library, Room 1306 on Friday, October 4 from 10-11:00am. Nancy Schafer, Stuart Frazer, and Rob Tench will be available to answer your questions.
