Extended library hours for finals
April 25th, 2011Need somewhere to study for finals? The Perry Library will be available for extended hours as follows:
April 27 - 28 (Wed-Thurs) 8am - 2am*
April 29 (Fri) 8am - 9:30pm
April 30 (Sat) 9am - 9:30pm
May 1 (Sun) 9am - 2am*
May 2 - 4 (Mon-Wed) 8am - 2am*
The following hours are for Perry Library, Hofheimer Art Library, and Diehn Composers Room:
May 6 (Fri) 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
May 7 - 8 CLOSED Commencement

Course Evaluation Time!

The information gathered through the Course Evaluation System is used as part of the evaluation of instruction at Old Dominion University.

Friends of the Library Event
February 4th, 2011Join the Friends of the ODU Libraries to hear James G. Zumwalt discuss his book "Bare Feet – Iron Will" which records personal experiences of the Vietnam War.
The lecture will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chandler Recital Hall, Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center.

Library welcomes George Fowler
February 2nd, 2011George Fowler joined the staff of the ODU Libraries as Associate University Librarian for Information Resources & Technology. He comes to ODU from University of Arkansas where he served as Head, Library Systems Department since 2006. Prior to Arkansas, he worked at Temple University, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He has also served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army in Iraq and in the National Guard in New Jersey. He has his MS in Library Science and a BS in Information Science from the University of North Texas.

In "Using EndNote with Library Databases," you will learn how to use EndNote, a powerful tool for organizing and managing bibliographic citations. You can easily export citations directly from library databases and create automatic bibliographies and in-text citations in your Word documents using Cite-while-you-write.

New Instructional Services Librarian
January 18th, 2011Joleen Westerdale joined the staff of the ODU Libraries as Instructional Services Librarian. Prior to coming to ODU, Ms. Westerdale worked at Keene State College in New Hampshire as a contract lecturer in reference and information services. She has been a reference and information services librarian at Emerson College Library, Salem State College Library, Simmons College’s Beatley Library, Washington University‘s Olin Library, and Emmanuel College’s Cardinal Cushing Library. She received her MLIS from the Simmons College in Boston, an MFA in Creative Writing from University of Massachusetts- Boston, and her BA in German Literature from University of Massachusetts-Boston.
