Join the Friends of the ODU Libraries to hear Dan Ailey (aka Dr. Daniel Sonenshine, Professor Emeritus of Biological Sciences) discuss his latest work, a science-fiction novel, Extinction – The Ultimate Holocaust: The Plan to Eliminate Humanity. Refreshments will be available.

The Virginia Tidewater Consortium (VTC) for Higher Education is made up of the colleges and universities in the Tidewater area. ODU is part of this consortium.

The libraries of the VTC cooperate through a reciprocal borrowing program. ODU students, faculty and staff can borrow books from any of the VTC libraries. BUT, you need to have a consortium card. You may get this card from the Circulation Desk on the 2nd floor of Perry Library.

BIOSIS Previews and Zoological Record are now available through Web of Science.

BIOSIS Previews is the premier database for life sciences and biomedical research. Through Web of Science, you can search current and backfiles (back to 1926) in one search. Zoological Record covers every aspect of zoology, with coverage back to 1978.

Access these databases from the library's "FIND DATABASES A-Z" option.

In accordance with the University's announcement, the University Libraries will open at 10am on Friday 10/1.

Old Dominion University will have a two hour delayed opening on Friday, October 1. Administrative offices will open at 10 a.m. Classes will begin at 10 a.m., starting with classes regularly scheduled for that time. Any classes that begin prior to 10 a.m. are cancelled. Essential personnel should report as directed.

On Tuesay, September 28, from 3:00-4:30pm, come to a Graduate Student Workshop "Using EndNote with Library Databases to Save You Time!" Learn how to collect citations from the library's databases and export them into EndNote, a powerful tool for organizing and managing bibliographic citations. Both desktop and Web versions will be included. Bringing your own laptop will be very helpful. If you do bring a laptop, we ask that you have EndNote downloaded to it already.

In case you're used to using PsycINFO on the EBSCOhost system, and it's no longer there... don't worry! We still have PsycINFO, but as of September 1, our access is through APA PsycNET (American Psychological Association).

You'll find that searching PsycINFO through APA PsycNET is very similar to EBSCOhost.

Note: Through the end of September, we also have access to PsycCRITIQUES and PsycEXTRA, so be sure to try them out.
