EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) 03/07/2013 - 06/30/2013
The EBSCO Discovery Service provides users with access to ODU's library collections via a single entry point. This service lets users search both the library catalog and a selection of our article databases from a single search box.

I have not had a chance to evaluate this service, but if it provides a single entry point to a wide array of references - and if we do not currently have any other equivalent service - then I believe it would be worth subscribing to the service.

It's intuitive, provides links to the Library's journals, databases, and subject guides, and allows a lot of search options. Response time was great. I would have liked to have seen a Public Administration and Urban Studies subject discipline, but that's a minor quibble. It was nice to see the Library & Information Science subject discipline though. With so many links to information in a number of resources, it really puts the "discover" in discovery services. It's a good product!
