"The Biggest Legal Nightmare"

CRS recording of Kasparov's Toccata

Professor Andrey Kasparov inadvertently sold the mechanical rights to one of his compositions, Toccata: For Piano to two companies, Vienna Modern Masters (VMM) and the Contemporary Record Society (CRS), for overlapping time frames. Both companies published recordings. When the companies discovered the error, the result, says Kasparov, "was the biggest legal nightmare of my life".
