Allan Blank and the Creative Process
DIEHN COMPOSERS ROOM, OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY, April 26-May 31, 2001

THIS ELECTRONIC EXHIBITION IS BASED ON

A concert of works by Allan Blank,
Composer-in-Residence With Virginia Chamber Players
produced by Old Dominion University Libraries as part of the
Virginia Arts Festival 2001

and an exhibit of manuscripts, photographs and other realia from the
Allan Blank Collection in the Diehn Composers Room.

"Allan Blank's passion for new music is evident in a lifetime of composition, performance and teaching. From training at Juilliard and New York University in violin performance to an 18-year career teaching composition at Virginia Commonwealth University where he is now Professor Emeritus, Blank has composed both instrumental and vocal pieces. He has won national competitions, including the George Eastman Competition and the Eric Satie Award, earning him scores of commissions and resulting in dozens of recordings. This performance is an amazing glimpse into his creative body of work."
