Accessing electronic resources from off campus

Log in user name = your University Identification Number (UIN)
You'll also be asked to enter your ODU email address.

Our library catalog—Click on Library catalog from library's main Web page. Lists books, journals, videos, etc. Use Journals, Magazines, Newspapers search to see list of journals in the library and electronic availability.
WorldCat —Click on Databases from library's main Web page. Lists books, videos, etc. Find out which libraries own items you want. Has built-in ILL (interlibrary loan) feature.
Library research databases for finding articles and more—Click on Databases from main Web page. Over 200—all disciplines, some with abstracts, some with full-text, features vary.
Journals, magazines, newspapers For a specific one for which you know date, title, etc., click on Journals, magazines,newspapers from main Web page. This will list availability both in the library and online.
Reference material—Click on General reference sources from library's main Web page. Dictionaries, statistics sources, biographical information, maps, style guides, etc.

Delivery of materials

Articles through research databases Obtain some full-text articles through Academic Search Complete, ABI/Inform, Gender Studies, ScienceDirect, Jstor, and approximately 250 other databases.
Articles in journals available online From library Web page, click on Journals, Magazines, Newspapers. Then type the journal title.

ILL (interlibrary loan) staff will send (usually electronically) on request; use form on library Web page under Services.
ILL staff will obtain from another library and send (usually electronically) on request; use form on library Web page under Services.

Books not owned by ODU Libraries ILL (interlibrary loan office) will obtain from another library and send on request; use form on library Web page under Services. The Library does not supply copies of textbooks required for current ODU courses.
