With its beginnings in 1994, the Friends of the Old Dominion University Library has provided support for the growing needs of the libraries at Old Dominion University. The Friends group promotes the unique services and needs of the library, encourages private support, and sponsors various events to promote library awareness and fundraising initiatives.

As a tribute to past and present members of the Friends group, the ODU Libraries will celebrate this Tenth Anniversary with a lobby exhibit of materials from the group's history, a yearlong lecture series, a campaign for life members, and an anniversary reception.
