This site was created to celebrate Women's History Month -- March 2003. It supplements a lobby exhibit which will be on display throughout the month of March in the lobby of the Perry Library.

Women have a rich history in jazz that has only begun to be explored since the 1980s. Our web and lobby exhibits are intended as an educational exploration of just some of the women who have been instrumental in the history of jazz. While the exhibits are not meant to be comprehensive, the resources section of the web site should serve as a starting point for more research.
