Databases

In the library world, the term database refers to the search tools used primarily for identifying resources. Databases can include scholarly materials such as journal articles, books, and dissertations, as well as newspapers, magazines, film, images, music, and more.

The databases libraries provide are usually either multidisciplinary (covering many subjects) or subject-specific (focusing on one subject area).
