In order to improve performance, many browsers use what is called a "cache". This is a location on the local hard drive where web pages are stored during a web session. The idea is that the web page likely won't change while the viewer is using the browser and it is much easier to retrieve the page if it has been stored locally. Sometimes, however, this cache does not get cleared out when the browser is closed, leaving old pages on the hard drive. This can pose problems for logging in through a proxy server such as that used by the ODU libraries.
The following describes how to manually clear out the browser cache:
