At the request of a specific college, school or department, a subject-specialist reference librarian can meet with faculty to offer workshops related to the Internet, the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA), pertinent databases, or other resources and services. To request such sessions or use the information literacy instruction services electronic request form or contact one of the librarians directly. In Webb Center at the new faculty orientation session in late August, come early to enjoy some coffee and pastry; then stop by the University Libraries table. Information during the morning session will be presented by the University Librarian, Virginia S. O'Herron. For more activities, see the "Faculty/Staff/Grad Student" section above.
Traditionally, the College of Arts & Letters has invited the Digital Services Librarian, Karen Vaughan, to meet with their new faculty before the fall semester begins. We're looking forward to this invitation again--an opportunity to showcase the wide variety of digital services we offer to faculty, as well as databases and other electronic resources available through the Virtual Library of Virginia (VIVA). We would be glad to meet with groups from other colleges or departments as well. To request such sessions, use the information literacy instruction services electronic request form or contact one of the librarians directly.
