Search the catalog for books, journals, and microfilms

Contains records of many types of material cataloged by OCLC member libraries, including books, serial publications, archival materials, etc.

ILLiad: Users must first register as an ODU patron, then select the type of item you wish to request, and fill in as much information as you know about the requested item.

* How to Find Dissertations and Theses

International Studies Dissertations are shelved at LD 4331.I45 (letter "i" 45)on the 3rd floor.

* Government Publications

Only a small part of Perry Library's government publications are in the library catalog. To identify other government publications, search the Catalog of Government Publications (CGP) from the U. S. Government Printing Office.This catalog includes documents created from 1976-forward. Many of the documents are available electronically.

* Microfilm Collections (small sample)

* Finding Articles - Known citations

Use the Journals, Magazines and Newspapers webpage. Search on the Journal Title, not the Article Title. Remember to check the date of the article, since databases may cover different years of the journal. Look for the graphic or the words "Check for full-text." If the full-text is not available, use Interlibrary loan to request it.

* Databases and Indexes (to find journal articles)

www.lib.odu.edu => Databases => Choose from the subject list or choose from the alphabetical list. Try these databases first, then explore the complete list.

• Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO) Contains full text from working papers, conference papers, journal articles, and books related to theory and research in international affairs.
• PAIS Indexes articles, books, research reports and government documents on public affairs and social policies.
• Political Science Fulltext journals on political science, political sociology, and policy studies.
• Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS) and World News Connection contain full text translations of political speeches, television programs, radio broadcasts, newspaper articles, periodicals, and books from around the world.
• Factiva - Provides current and retrospective news stories, periodical articles, and company and industry financial data covering virtually every subject category. International coverage includes sources in 20 languages.
