EndNote @ Old Dominion University Libraries

EndNote is a tool for acquiring, organizing and managing citations. The most recent version is EndNote Reference Manager X1.

ODU's Center for Learning Technology provides introductory EndNote workshops for faculty and teaching assistants. The Library provides instruction on how to export citations from databases into EndNote.

How to Get the EndNote Program:

ODU has a campus site license for EndNote. Faculty, staff and students can download EndNote from the OCCS page on the University’s Web Site.  From the University home page select:

Filters:

Import Filters are the files used by EndNote to transfer information you downloaded from an online database. Connection files allow you to search and import references from online databases. New filters you may wish to download are:

  • Import Filter for WilsonWeb databases (from UC Davis)
    1. Right-click on the filter link above, and select "Save Target As..."
    2. Copy the file to the appropriate folder in your EndNote program directory (usually located C:\Program Files\EndNote\Filters)
    3. Once your do your WilsonWeb search, you will open this import filter.
  • Connection File for ODU Library Catalog
    1. Right-click on the link above, and select "Save Target As..."
    2. Copy the file to the appropriate folder in your EndNote program directory (usually C:\Program Files\EndNote\Connections).
    3. This new option should be available when you go to: Tools / Online Search.
