Register--do this first! Once you receive your username from ScienceDirect,
log in and conduct a search. Unless you want to search Medline as well as
the journal collection, uncheck the box that says "Abstract Databases"
before doing your search.

Once you have a search strategy that produces successful results, click on Save
Search or Save as Search Alert. You may save the search strategy
so that you can re-execute it later, or save the strategy to receive e-mail
search alerts, or both.
A search alert notifies you by e-mail of new articles matching your interests that have been added to ScienceDirect. Links to the articles are provided in the e-mail.
A journal issues alert sends you an e-mail with the table of contents when new issues of your selected journals.are added to ScienceDirect. Links to the articles are provided in the e-mail. To set up a journal issues alert, you need to be logged in. On any ScienceDirect screen, click on My Alerts and then go to Journal Issue Alerts and click on Add/Remove Journals.
