Chapter 3.2: Indexes That Work for Criminal Justice Subjects

The table below lists information about the indexes most important for criminal justice research. All of the these indexes are available through the library Web site and are linked from the resources list at the end of this tutorial:

Criminal Justice Abstracts Articles, books and other publications produced by researchers, criminal justice agencies, and professional organizations. A good index for primary sources. (1968-present) Includes abstracts but no fulltext.
Contemporary Women's Issues Articles from journals, books, and research reports on women in over 150 countries including topics in criminal justice and human rights for both primary and secondary sources. Fulltext.
General OneFile (formerly InfoTrac OneFile) Articles on many criminal justice related subjects. Includes both primary and secondary sources. (1980-present) Fulltext for about 40% of the articles indexed.
National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) Government reports, articles, books, and more. Includes both primary and secondary sources. The NCJRS database has links to some fulltext materials.
PsycInfo Psychology related articles, books, and book chapters. useful for criminal justice topics involving violence, rehabilitation, counseling, etc. A good index for primary sources. (1984-present) Includes abstracts, but no fulltext.
Sociological Abstracts Sociology related articles, books, and dissertations. A good index for primary sources. (1963-present) Includes abstracts, but no fulltex.
