Web resources

Many excellent primary and secondary history resources are available on the Web. However, because anyone can create a Web site, the quality and reliability of the information varies.

  • Primary sources you use from the Web must be authentic and accurately transcribed
  • Authors of secondary sources you use should have academic credentials qualifying them to provide commentary and analysis of the topic at hand

Material on the Web that does not meet these criteria may not be considered acceptable by professors for college level work.

In this section you will learn:

  • Ways to identify Web sites acceptable for academic work
  • How to find Web sites using history Web directories and search engines
