What to look for in a history Web site

High quality history Web sites are often affiliated with one or more of the following:

  • Colleges or universities
  • Historical societies
  • Federal, state or local governments
  • Non-profit research centers
  • Libraries or archives

The first thing you should try to establish when you look at a Web site is the organization or individual that created it.
