C. How to use WorldCat
to locate books at other libraries
WorldCat, available on the FirstSearch
system, has the following features:
- contains over 150 million records
of all types of materials (books, journals, videos, etc.) in libraries
throughout the world.
- records are linked to the holdings
of libraries -- holdings for Virginia libraries will be listed first.
- the Interlibrary Loan function
allows you to submit an ILL request directly from a WorldCat record
to the Library's Interlibrary Loan Office.
- allows you to search for known items
or materials of a particular type, and to limit your search by publication
year or other field-specific parameters.
This "Guided Search" will assist you in
using WorldCat.
