Books are important in the field of
nursing research. In the publishing cycle, it is rare but not unheard
of for primary research to appear as a chapter in a book or in an anthology
of research on a particular topic. Books are more commonly a secondary
source, and as such can offer a full, historical treatment of a topic
or an overview of the research carried out. This overview usually
comes with citations to the primary sources. Edited volumes, annual
reviews, and textbooks are three types of book materials that you can
find by using online library catalogs.
