2. Locate information on the Web

The Web can be very complicated and disorganized. There are many search tools available which can help you wade through all the information and find what you need. However, there are different types of search tools and you will need to know the basics of how to search each of them. Not all search tools are alike. Sometimes, depending on your search, you may need to search more than one tool.

There are three basic types of web search tools.

  • Subject Directories
  • Search Engines
  • Meta-Search Engines
