Test Reviews and Test Research
in Periodicals, Books, and Dissertations
Periodical databases are a good source of test information.
The research study articles included often explain tests and
measures used in a study and may include all or part of the
survey or (unpublished) test used.
Many of the databases, such as ERIC and PsycINFO have
a menu choice to limit searches to include test reports.
In others, such as CINAHL and MEDLINE, the search
can include keywords to retrieve test information, such as test, measure, inventory, or survey.
An example of a periodical database search might be:
self-esteem and adolescents and (test? or inventor?)
Dissertation Abstracts International is another good database
to search for information about tests. Many researchers use a test
instrument for their study and these instruments would be explained
in their dissertations.
Books also occasionally also include information about tests and
measures and the actual unpublished measure itself. A good search
for finding books that might include information about an instrument
and possible text would be a keyword search in the library
online catalog for the topic and research or type of research study.
e.g. depression and assessment; depression and
depression and test*
There are also a few instances where certain kinds of unpublished
measures are collected into one book. An example of that from
the library catalog is:
Measures of personality and social psychological attitudes /
edited by John P. Robinson et.al.
BF698.4.M38 1991
Keywords for finding this title would be: personality, attitudes, assessment
(in the subject), and test (also in the subject). |
