Evidence-based medicine uses methodologies from logic and science to find, appraise and apply the evidence gained from medical research to the care of individual patients. The library has just added "Evidence-Based Medicine Reviews" to our OVID database subscription. "Evidence-Based Medicine Reviews" contains 4 databases that may be searched separately or simultaneously. They are: * EBM Reviews - ACP Journal Club ... consists of two journals: ACP Journal Club, a publication of the American College of Physicians, and Evidence-Based Medicine, a joint publication with the British Medical Journal Group. 1991 to March/April 2005 * EBM Reviews - Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CCTR) ... a bibliographic database of definitive controlled trials. * EBM Reviews - Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (DSR) ... the main component of the Cochrane Library. It contains the full text of Systematic Reviews and the Protocols, which are reviews in preparation. They provide the background, objectives and methods of reviews, as well as an expected date of completion. * EBM Reviews - Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects (DARE) ... a full text database containing critical assessments of systematic reviews from a variety of medical journals from all over the world. DARE records cover topics such as diagnosis, prevention, rehabilitation, screening, and treatment. * EBM Reviews Full Text - Cochrane DSR, ACP Journal Club, and DARE * All EBM Reviews - Cochrane DSR, ACP Journal Club, DARE, and CCTR Access the EBM Reviews from the library's "Databases" page under "Health, Medicine, Nursing" or search individual title. To access this and other Project Muse journals, click "Project Muse" on the library's "Journals, Magazines, Newspapers" page or search by individual journal title. Tracy Matthews from ISI will deliver a 1.5 hour workshop for interested faculty, staff and grad students beginning at 9:30 AM on April 7 in Perry Library, room 163.
