Led by Steve Litherland, the workshop runs 2:00-2:30 in room 163 and is open to all faculty, graduate students and staff. ==> CHINA FORUM: POSTER EXHIBIT AVAILABLE IN THE LIBRARY On October 28-29, 2005, the Institute of Asian Studies and the Graduate Programs in International Studies will host an international conference: "International and Domestic Implications of the Rise of China." This conference will bring in around 20 leading China scholars from all over the world including China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, as well as the United States. All of these scholars have prominent records in their academic research; many of them have been involved in governmental policy making in their respective countries. To promote this conference, the library has mounted a poster exhibit which includes biographies of the speakers and many of their books. Come to the lobby of Perry Library to learn more. The exhibit will be on display through November 4. Williams Center for Real Estate and Economic Development and the local chapter of the Urban Land Institute. The collection includes best practices, case studies, and perspectives from professionals. To find the materials in the library's catalog (http://iii.lib.odu.edu), choose the Keyword Search option and type: urban land institute ==> FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY FALL FORUM: THIS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28 Plan to come to the Friends of the Library Fall Forum on Friday, October 28, 2005, at 1:00pm in Room 104 of the Batten Arts and Letters Building. Peter Paret, Professor Emeritus of the School of Historical Studies at Princeton's Institute for Advanced Study, will be presenting this year's forum: "The History of War and Other Histories." The lecture is presented in memory of Craig M. Cameron, former Old Dominion University faculty member. The Forum is free, and free parking will be available in the parking garage on 43rd Street, just past the Perry Library. ==> UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES ANNUAL BOOK SALE: NOVEMBER 2-5 Mark your calendars for the University Libraries 31st Annual Book Sale on Wednesday November 2 through Saturday November 5.
