LIBNEWS-L: New Resources and Services at Old Dominion University Libraries December 6, 2005 * Library Carpeting Project: December 16-January 17, 2006 * Extended Library Hours For Exam Week: December 9-15 * Annual Baskets for Books Game: December 17 * Holiday Library Hours: December 18-January 2006 ==> LIBRARY CARPETING PROJECT: DECEMBER 16-JANUARY 27, 2006 Perry Library is continuing its carpet replacement project. New carpet will be installed on the 4th floor, beginning December 16, 2005. We anticipate completion by January 27, 2006. During that time the 4th floor will be inaccessible for faculty, staff and students. Library staff will retrieve needed materials; please check with the Circulation staff at the front desk. Study areas and collections on 3rd, 2nd, and 1st floors will continue to be available. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience. ==> EXTENDED LIBRARY HOURS FOR EXAM WEEK: FRIDAY, DECEMBER 9 - FRIDAY, DECEMBER 15 Library hours during exam week have been extended as follows: * Friday, December 9: 8am - 9:30pm * Saturday, December 10: 9am - 9:30pm * Sunday, December 11: 9am - 2am * Monday, December 12 - Thursday, December 15: 8am - 2am * Friday, December 16 - Saturday, December 17 -- open regular hours During the extended hours, the first floor, circulation services, and reference resources will be available for patron use until the building closes. Reference Desk, Microforms, and Interlibrary Loan will close as scheduled. For the 9:30pm closings, the upper floors will not be available for patron use. Circulation staff will be available to retrieve materials from the general collection upon patron request from 7:30-9:30pm. For the 2am closings, the upper floors and retrieval of materials will not be available from midnight-2am. Public Safety will be available to provide escort service during all extended hours. ==> ANNUAL BASKETS FOR BOOKS GAME: DECEMBER 17, 2005 The 15th Annual "Baskets for Books" game, co-sponsored by Old Dominion’s Athletic Department and the Friends of the Library, will be held at 4 p.m. at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. A percentage of the proceeds from game ticket sales will be donated to the university’s Perry Library for the purchase of new books and equipment. Ticket prices are $20 and include club level seating (oversized, cushioned seats with full back support) and a buffet of hot dogs, chicken fingers, potato chips, cookies and beverages. A cash bar will also be available.
