The research centers participating in the pilot project are: Virginia Modeling and Simulation Center (VMASC) Langley Full Scale Wind Tunnel (LFST) Center for Quantitative Fisheries Ecology (CQFE) Applied Research Center (ARC) Center for Bioelectrics Faculty/staff (including post-doctoral researchers and graduate assistants) at these centers can place requests for all items (including materials ODU Library owns) through ILLiad: articles/conference papers will be scanned and delivered electronically; books will be sent to the applicable center by campus mail or UPS. The pilot project will last through the spring 2006 semester, after which we hope to extend this service to other ODU research centers. The Institute of Physics is a leading international physics publisher and society with over 37,000 members. New titles added are: * Journal of Geophysics and Engineering, which covers all earth-physics disciplines * Journal of Neural Engineering, which publishes interdisciplinary articles at the intersection of neuroscience, neurobiology, and engineering * Physical Biology, a journal focusing on the integration of biology with quantitative scientific fields * Physica Scripta, a journal published by IoP on behalf of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (Internet access to begin in 2006) View the full list of journals available at: http://www.iop.org/EJ/librarians/-assist=subs/ Access all IOP journals from the library's Web site under "Journals, Magazines, & Newspapers" or search by individual journal title. Because IOP is available through the VIVA, IP address restrictions apply: from off campus, you'll need to enter your Campus UIN at the Easy Proxy page. VIVA is a consortium of the libraries of 72 non-profit research or higher education institutions in Virginia, including 39 state-assisted colleges and universities at 55 campuses within the Commonwealth of Virginia, 32 independent private, non-profit institutions, and The Library of Virginia. VIVA's mission is to provide, in an equitable, cooperative, and cost-effective manner, enhanced access to library and information resources for Virginia's academic libraries serving the non-profit higher education community. VIVA is funded by the Commonwealth of Virginia through the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) and by investments from participating institutions. ------------------------------- ==> NEW MUSIC ARCHIVIST HIRED Dr. Jay Moore is our new Librarian Archivist for Music Collections.
