The gift collection contains 353 titles from his personal library in art, primarily graphic design and studio art.  These titles enhance our collections in the Hofheimer Art Library and support the programs in graphic design and studio art. Because of the close connection between Professor Fanizza and Old Dominion University, the Art Department organized a project to design a special bookplate for these books. Clay Vaughan, from the Art Library, has put together an exhibit in the lobby of the Perry Library that highlights many of the books in the collection. The exhibit includes a photographic portrait of Mike Fanizza taken by ODU Art Professor David Johnson. The exhibit will be available through December. Don't miss this tribute to a well-respected former ODU professor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ==> TWO MORE WEEKS TO VIEW "THE ART & BUSINESS OF COMPOSITION" EXHIBIT Be sure to visit the Diehn Composers Room, 189 Diehn Fine and Performing Arts Center, before the end of November to view the exhibit, "The Art & Business of Composition." The exhibit focuses on music as a graphic art; composition as a musical art; and business and legal considerations involved in publishing music, from the composer’s point of view.  It includes examples of printed music from the 17th through 19th centuries to illustrate the use of wood block, copper engraving and lithography in music printing.  Through oral histories and sketchbooks, several composers, including Professor Allan Blank and Old Dominion University Professor Adolphus Hailstork, communicate their ideas on creating music.  The exhibit also demonstrates a basic step-by-step process to getting published and getting paid. The Diehn Composers Room is open from 8 am until 5 pm, Monday through Friday. A Web exhibit is also available at: http://www.lib.odu.edu/musiclib/exhibits/art_business For more information, please contact the exhibit's producer, Dr. Jay E.
