Learn about obtaining the articles through research information databases, through the library's journal search page, by using ArticleLinker, and even electronically via interlibrary loan. Faculty, staff and graduate students are invited to the workshop on Thursday, February 22, from 10-11am, in Perry Library, Room 163. To register, contact Nancy Schafer at nschafer@odu.edu or 683-5909 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ==> DATABASE FYI: "DISSERTATIONS & THESES @ OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY" Do you remember "Current Research @"? It has been replaced by "Dissertations & Theses @ Old Dominion University," which is a subset of the "Dissertations & Theses Full Text" database. Dissertations & Theses @ ODU allows you to access the citations and abstracts of all ODU student dissertations and theses, as well as the full text in PDF format, when available. Access to Dissertations & Theses @ ODU is from the library's "Databases" page. Select "Dissertations & Theses Full Text," and then click "Select Multiple Databases." From the list of ProQuest databases, select only "Dissertations & Theses @ Old Dominion University." Because this is a subscription database, IP address restrictions apply: from off campus, you'll need to enter your Campus UIN at the Easy Proxy page. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ==> DATABASE FYI: "SOCIAL SCIENCES CITATION INDEX" IN WEB OF SCIENCE Just in case you weren't aware, the "Social Sciences Citation Index" is part of the Web of Science. The Web of Science, which also includes the "Science Citation Index," provides keyword access to articles from the top journals in the sciences and social sciences. You can also perform cited reference searching to navigate forward, backward, and through the literature, searching all disciplines and time spans to uncover all the information relevant to your research. Access Web of Science from the library's "Databases" page by title or subject. Because WoS is available through library subscription, IP address restrictions apply: from off campus, you'll need to enter your Campus UIN at the Easy Proxy page. Contact Karen Vaughan kvaughan@odu.edu with questions about citation searching. ------------------------------- Next Issue: February 27, 2007 ------------------------------- Find the Libnews-L archives at: http://www.lib.odu.edu/libinfo/publications/libnews
