Register with Kathryn Boone at 683-4182 or kboone@odu.edu. Please indicate your department when registering. ------------------------------------------ ==> LIBRARY SHIFT -- M and N to 4th floor Over the summer, books with call numbers M (music) and N (art) were moved from the 3rd floor to the 4th floor. -------------------------- ==> INFOTRAC NAME CHANGE InfoTrac OneFile is now General OneFile. Many features have been added through the new "PowerSearch" interface. Users have easier access to limiters, better document display, improved "How-to-Cite" functionality, and an enhanced Subject Guide. Search alerts and RSS are also available now. These new features also apply to Academic OneFile. Try it out! ------------------------------------------------------ ==> LINKING TO DATABASES OR ARTICLES FROM BLACKBOARD Reminder to Faculty: When linking to databases for students to use through Blackboard, be sure to send them through the Library's Web site. Otherwise, if they're off campus, they won't have access. For the same reason, when linking to journal articles available through library subscription, be sure to place the proxy login url before the stable url for the article. For fuller instructions, go to "Services for Faculty" then "Linking to Full-Text Articles..." -- http://www.lib.odu.edu/services/faculty/fulltextlinking.htm -------------------------------------------- ==> NEW HEALTH SCIENCES REFERENCE LIBRARIAN Janet Justis was hired as Health Sciences Reference Librarian on June 10, 2007. Janet has been the Government Information Reference Librarian at ODU since 1995. During that time she has also worked in a number of health science related fields as instructor and bibliographer. Prior to ODU, she worked as the Government Information Specialist for the State Library of North Carolina and has over ten years experience in the social work field. Janet has her Master of Science in Library Science from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the College of William and Mary. ----------------------- ==> HOW ARE WE DOING? The Old Dominion University Libraries always want to know how we are doing. We strive to provide excellent service but only you can tell us if we are reaching that goal. Currently at the Perry Library circulation desk (where you check out materials) you will find a small customer service card. Any time you use the services of the circulation desk we would ask that you fill out this card to let us know how we are doing. Your responses will assist us in providing the best possible service to you and all our patrons. ------------------------------------ Next Issue: September 11, 2007 ------------------------------------ Find the Libnews-L archives at: http://www.lib.odu.edu/libinfo/publications/libnews
