==> FACULTY WORKSHOP:  WHAT'S HAPPENING @ THE LIBRARY

New and returning faculty members and graduate teaching assistants are
encouraged to attend "What's Happening @ the Library" on Thursday, January
10, from 10-11am, in Room 151.  Learn about our most important services and
resources for you, and get all your questions answered! Light refreshments
will be served.  Registration is not required but is helpful to us in
planning. Email cswaine@odu.edu.

==> EXTENDED LIBRARY HOURS FOR EXAM WEEK

Library hours during exam week have been extended as follows:
   * Monday, December 10 - Thursday, December 13: 8am - 2am
   * Friday, December 14 - Regular hours
   * Saturday, December 15 - Sunday, December 16: Closed (Commencement)

During the extended hours, the first floor, circulation services, and
reference resources will be available for patron use until the building
closes.  Reference Desk, Microforms, Interlibrary Loan, Digital Services,
Special Collections, Hofheimer Art Library, Diehn Composers Room will close
as scheduled.

For the 9:30pm closings, the upper floors will not be available for patron
use.  Circulation staff will be available to retrieve materials from the
general collection upon patron request from 7:30-9:30pm.  For the 2am
closings, the upper floors and retrieval of materials will not be available
from midnight-2am.

Public Safety will be available to provide escort service during all
extended hours.

==> HOLIDAY LIBRARY HOURS

Library hours for the holidays will be as follows:

  Monday, December 17 - Thursday, December 20: 8am-5pm
  Friday, December 21 - Wednesday, December 26: CLOSED (Holidays)
  Thursday, December 27 - Friday, December 28: 9am-6pm
    (Circulation and Reference open; other departments closed)
  Saturday, December 29 - Tuesday, January 1:  CLOSED
  Wednesday, January 2 - Friday, January 4:  8am-5pm
  Saturday, January 5 - Sunday, January 6:  CLOSED

Branch libraries and certain library units will have different hours and/or
limited services. Please call ahead for information: 683-4154.  For

* LIBRARY EXHIBITS: "STUDENT LIFE AT ODU" and "THE ART OF THE PIANO"

Be sure to stop by and view two current library exhibits.  In the Perry
Library lobby, "Student Life At ODU: The More Things Change, The More They
Stay The Same."  Enjoy photos of students at ease, at play, and at work
over the years. In the Diehn Composers Room, "The Art of the Piano"
examines the art surrounding the piano -- the art of invention, the art of
building, the art of design -- and its rising popularity in 18th century
Europe musically and socially.
