LIBNEWS-L: New Resources and Services at Old Dominion University Libraries January 29, 2008 * Friends of the Library Event: Lecture by Maryanne Wolf * Several New Books Added to EngNetBase -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ==> FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY EVENT: "THE READING BRAIN" LECTURE BY MARYANNE WOLF The Friends of the Old Dominion University Libraries are proud to host Maryanne Wolf, author of the national best-selling book, Proust and the Squid: The Story and Science of the Reading Brain, as she presents a lecture on how the brain learned to read and in the process changed the way we think. The lecture will take place on Tuesday, February 19, at 7 p.m., at St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Norfolk. The event is free and open to the public. This event is sponsored by Friends of the Old Dominion Libraries, with support from the University Village Bookstore. Copies of the book will be sold at the lecture, and Dr. Wolf will be available to sign them after her talk.
