LIBNEWS-L: New Resources and Services at Old Dominion University Libraries April 15, 2008 * Web of Science Now Includes "Arts & Humanities Citation Index" * Faculty Workshop On Cited Reference Searching -- Friday ------------------------------------------------------------------- ==> WEB OF SCIENCE NOW INCLUDES "ARTS & HUMANITIES CITATION INDEX" "Arts & Humanities Citation Index" (AHCI) provides access to bibliographic information, author abstracts, and cited references from over 1,150 of the world's leading arts and humanities journals. It also covers individually selected, relevant items from approximately 7,000 journals in the sciences and social sciences. AHCI is one of three standard citation databases. It joins the other two -- Science Citation Index (SCI) and Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) -- on the same search system "Web of Science." This should make cited reference searching more efficient and streamlined. Access AHCI and the other Web of Science databases from the library's "Databases" page by title, or through the Library Catalog. Because they are available through library subscription, IP address restrictions apply: from off campus, you'll need to enter your ODU email address and UIN at the Easy Proxy page. ------------------------------------------------------------ ==> FACULTY WORKSHOP ON CITED REFERENCE SEARCHING -- FRIDAY Speaking of citation databases... "Who's Citing You--and Where?" is the topic of a workshop geared toward faculty planning to apply for promotion and tenure. Come to Perry Library Room 151, on Friday April 18, 10-11am and learn how to determine who has cited your publications and how to decide which journals might be the best places for you to publish. Registration is not required but is helpful to us in planning. Email kvaughan@odu.edu. ------------------------------------ Next Issue: April 22, 2008 ------------------------------------ Find the Libnews-L archives at: http://www.lib.odu.edu/libinfo/publications/libnews
