Brown, music cataloger, at 757-683-4187. ------------------------------------------------ ==> LEARNING COMMONS FORUMS -- June 10 and 17 The University Libraries and the Office Of Computing and Communications Services are investigating the implementation of an information/learning commons in Perry Library. An information/learning commons provides content in a variety of formats, technologies that might not be affordable to individual students, and spaces built to encourage collaboration and interaction - bringing together library services and technology to create an environment that fosters informal, collaborative work, and social interaction.  Comfortable furniture, media and gaming stations, and group, individual, and informal gathering spaces would be available. The collaboration of libraries and information technology presents some exciting opportunities for Old Dominion University. As part of the planning process, two forums featuring representatives from some of the best known information/learning commons in the country will be held. On June 10, 1-4pm, participants will be from University of Massachusetts-Amherst and Indiana University-Bloomington. On June 17, 1-4pm, the participants will be from Georgia Institute of Technology and North Carolina State University. Both of these forums will be held in the Board of Visitors Room in Webb Center and are open to all. Your input will be valuable in our planning process. ------------------------------------------- Next Issue: As needed through Summer, 2008 ------------------------------------------- Find the Libnews-L archives at: http://www.lib.odu.edu/libinfo/publications/libnews
