Saturday grad level
workshops
On Saturday mornings from 9:30 until 11:30, reference librarians
will offer research workshops designed specifically for graduate
students in a series called, A Road Map to Electronic Full-Text
Journals. The schedule is:

Term Paper Triage: last
minute help
If you recognize any Old Dominion students in need of help with
research papers, let them know that they are invited to drop in
for assistance on Monday, November 12, from 1:00pm until 4:00pm,
in room 163 of Perry Library.
Both Library and Writing
Center professionals will be on hand to offer some extended one-on-one
help. We'll assist students in finding articles, searching the Internet,
citing resources, and using correct grammar and style.
No registration is necessary,
but for more information call 683-4178 and ask to speak with a reference
librarian.
Learning communities
invited
Beginning October 1,
students enrolled in learning communities may register for one of
four 45-minute library help sessions by calling the Reference and
Research Services Department at 683-4178 or by stopping by the reference
desk in person to sign up.
The sessions, to be held
in room 163 of the Perry Library at 12:30pm on October 16, 18, 23
and 25, will include both a tour and hands-on experience with finding
resources.

Literary festival exhibit
this month
An exhibit featuring
brochures, photos, and a variety of memorabilia, such as posters
and T-shirts, from all of the university's literary festivals (1978-2001)
will be on display through October in the lobby of Perry Library.
Additionally, the official
Web site for the festivals is full of fascinating content, including
brochures, photographs and audio/video, as a tribute to the many
speakers, performers, and organizers who have made each festival

American Fact Finder
Need population, housing, economic or geographic data? Maps and
tables based on Census 2000 data are available from this U. S. Census
Bureau site. Here you will find rankings, comparisons and summaries
for the United States, states, metropolitan areas and large places.
You can even enter your own street address to find census data at
the neighborhood block level. Find this database as well as other
statistics sources from the library Web page by clicking on Information
Resources, then on General Reference.

Do you know students who may need some help in learning about how
