W.D. Snodgrass W.D. Snodgrass won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1959. He is Distinguished Professor Emeritus from the University of Delaware and has authored dozens of poetry collections and translations, including After-Images: Autobiographical Sketches, Selected Translations, The Fuehrer Bunker: The Complete Cycle, Spring Suite, Each in His Season, Snow Songs, and Five Folk Ballads. Among many awards and grants are more recently the Award for Translation of Romanian Literature, Colloquium of Translators and Editors of Romanian Literature, Sinaia, Romania; Harold Morton Landon Award for Translation, Academy of American Poets; Finalist for National Book Critics Circle Award; and Fellow, American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 1978, he was the first Distinguished Visiting Writer at Old Dominion University, and the co-director of the first ODU Literary Festival. [extracted from 2002 brochure] |
