Matthew Klam was named one of the Twenty Best Fiction Writers Under
Forty by The New Yorker in 1999. He is a recipient of a PEN/Robert Bingham
Award, a National Endowment for the Arts Grant, a Whiting Writer's Award,
and an O'Henry Award. His first book, Sam the Cat and Other Stories,
was a New York Times Notable Book and a finalist for the Los Angeles
Times Book of the Year. He is a contributing writer for the New York
Times Magazine and GQ Magazine.
