Stanford
Ann Stanford is the author of six books of poetry, most recently "In
Mediterranean Air," published by Viking in 1978. She has received the
award in literature from the National Institute-Academy of Arts and
Letters, the DiCastagnola and Shelley Memorial Awards of the Poetry
Society of America, and a grant from the National Endowment for the
Arts. She has completed a verse translation of the "Bhagavad Gita" (published
by Continuum Books) and an anthology, "The Women Poets in English."
She has also written several critical essays, as well as a book-length
study, "Anne Bradstreet: The Worldly Puritan." A board member of the
Associated Writing Programs, she appears through their courtesy. [extracted
