BIOGRAPHY
John Joseph Davye was born October 19, 1929 in Milton, Massachusetts. He married Betty Bostick, and they have two children, Mary and Michael. Davye earned a B.Mus. from the University of Miami, Florida in 1952 and a M.Mus. from Ithica College, New York in 1965, where he studied with Warren Benson. He was a choral conductor and a composer of choral and chamber music and taught music at the secondary level in the public schools from 1955 to 1965. In 1966 he joined the faculty at Old Dominion University where he taught music theory, conducting, and composing. He was a member of American Choral Directors Association, American Society of University Composers, American Association of University Professors, Music Educators National Conference, and an honorary life member of Iota Tau Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity.
