Directions to the
F. Ludwig Diehn Composers Room

From the North:

  • Take I-64 East to Norfolk
  • Drive through the Hampton Roads Tunnel
  • Approximately 6 miles after leaving the tunnel, you will see a sign, TO TERMINAL BLVD, TO ODU / NEXT RIGHT
  • As you bear right there is another sign I-564 / TO TERMINAL BLVD / TO NAVAL BASES
  • Follow Terminal Blvd. until you reach Hampton Blvd. (the 3rd traffic light)
  • Turn left onto Hampton Blvd.
  • Drive down Hampton Blvd. to 49th St.
  • Turn right onto 49th St, the entrance to Old Dominion University
  • The Diehn Fine & Performing Arts Center is on your left, at the corner of 49th St. and Elkhorn Ave. There is metered parking in the lot on Elkhorn Ave. You also may go to the Parking Garage at the end of Elkhorn Ave. (corner of Elkhorn Ave. and 43rd St.) to purchase a one-day parking pass.

From the South:

  • Take Route 58 East through the Midtown Tunnel in Portsmouth
  • Bear left out of the tunnel onto Hampton Blvd.
  • Follow Hampton Blvd. to 49th Street.
  • Turn left onto 49th Street, the entrance to Old Dominion University
  • The Diehn Fine & Performing Arts Center is on your left, at the corner of 49th St. and Elkhorn Ave. There is metered parking in the lot on Elkhorn Ave. You also may go to the Parking Garage at the end of Elkhorn Ave. (corner of Elkhorn Ave. and 43rd St.) to purchase a one-day parking pass.

Location of Diehn Composers Room:

  1. Enter the main double doors of the Diehn Fine & Performing Arts Center on Elkhorn Ave
  2. Turn right at the first first hallway (just before reaching the water fountains) and walk as far as you can go
  3. At the end of the hall, turn through the doors to the right
  4. Make an immediate left
  5. Go straight down the hall and through the tall fire doors
  6. The "Ludwig Diehn Composers Room" is straight ahead of you
  7. Enter the area through the wood-framed doors, then use the double door on your right
