The
scores collection (more than 2940 titles) is cataloged and available
to patrons by browsing the shelves or by searching in the library's online
catalog. In addition to a complement of performance and study scores representing
many music forms and time periods, the collected works of several individual
composers are owned, including those of J. S. Bach, Handel, Haydn, Schubert,
and Telemann.
The sound recordings collection, a combination of circulating and non-circulating items, consists mainly of compact discs, long-play records, and cassettes. Both musical and non-musical (spoken word, sound effects, etc.) recordings are represented. The long-play recordings, cassettes, and compact discs are cataloged and available for searching in the library's online catalog. The sound recordings and special collections are housed in a secure, temperature and humidity controlled environment. The sound recordings collection represents most music genres and forms. The cataloged sound recordings collection totals more than 5000 titles.
The video and kit collections consist of music-oriented instructional tools, documentaries, operas, and research materials made up of different types of media. Kits usually consist of books with supporting media in diskette, cd-rom, or cassette formats. All video cassettes are VHS format. The kits and videos total more than 95 titles.
