The F. Ludwig Diehn Composers Room is a branch library facility of the
University Library at Old Dominion University. The Listening Library houses
the music special collections, scores, music videos, music kits, and sound
recordings of the University Library. The facility makes a full complement
of audio equipment available for users at eight single-user stations;
an additional station makes group listening (up to four people) available.
A station containing a multimedia computer, vcr, dvd, and laserdisc player
is also readily accessed. Two musical instrument digital interface (MIDI)
stations are also available. The MIDI stations can be used for creating,
notating and listening to composed musical compositions. Each station
is equipped with Finale and Sibelius software and a version of Adobe Acrobat,
which allows saving the work to disk. As well as the music equipment,
public internet stations are also available for use. A small reference
collection containing resources of special interest to sound recordings
research is housed in the Listening Library.
