HISTORY

College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) is a group of directors of university and college marching and concert bands that was founded in 1941. It includes 1,200 members whose goals are to futher the study, teaching, and performance of band music, particularly that of wind band music.

COLLECTION SCOPE AND CONTENTS

The College Band Directors National Association Collection is comprised of a core group of eighty-two original concert band scores by sixty-seven composers. Most of these pieces are unpublished, and in manuscript form. Parts are not included.

The collection was donated to the Diehn Composers Room by the Virginia Chapter of the CBDNA and facilitated by Dennis Zeisler, chair of the ODU Music Department, and a member of CBDNA. The collection is expected to be added to every February, as a result of the group's yearly symposium.
