3c. How are materials organized?
Materials are assigned certain subject classifications. Usually, college and university libraries use the Library of Congress classification system. In this system, the classification letter A is used for general works, such as encyclopedias. Likewise,
- B is for philosophy, psychology and religion
- N is for fine arts
- Q is for science
Other letters of the alphabet are assigned to other areas of knowledge.
