About the DOVE catalog

The catalog is best viewed in Firefox.

The DOVE catalog lists relevant primary and secondary sources from around the country. The repositories include local historical societies, university special collections, government repositories and public libraries.

Because the collections reside at a wide range of institutions, we are not able to provide access to the collections themselves. Researchers seeking specific information on and access to collections listed in this portal are requested to use the repository information to contact the holding institution directly.

Users can search for and locate information about collections in the following ways: by keyword, type of material, name of the repository and geographic location of the school. In some instances there are links to digital images, audio files or electronic finding aids.

There are three ways to view the catalog:

  • List
  • Map
  • Timeline

The list view provides the most complete information about collections.

Collections are displayed in the map view based on the primary locale of the content. The DOVE region of the repository holding the collection is color coded (see legion at the bottom of map view.)

Decades are listed at the top of the timeline, centuries at the bottom. The DOVE region of the repository holding the collection is color coded (see legion at the bottom of timeline view.)
