Interview with Dr. Kathyrn Hill

Biographical Information

Dr. Kathyrn Hill was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on December 2, 1916. She was also raised in that area. She attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri. After graduating, Dr. Hill entered the University of Nebraska where she subsequently received her medical degree. From l944 to l947, Dr. Hill’s career centered around a private practice in Iowa. After moving to the Tidewater area in l947, she set up a private practice in Virginia Beach with her husband, Robert Venner. The husband and wife team are still practicing medicine in their Virginia Beach office at the present time.

Although Dr. Hill had seven children ranging in age from thirty-nine to twenty-four, she found time to be involved in several professional organizations including the Virginia Beach Medical Society, the Medical Society of Virginia, and the Tidewater Pediatric Society. In her spare time Dr. Hill enjoys sewing, gardening, tennis, horseback riding, skiing, and hiking.

A discussion of Dr. Hill’s career, family life, and personal philosophy follows in a transcription of an interview held on November 5, 1982. As the interview began, this interesting woman and her descriptive analysis of her life began to evolve.
